Dear Family,
Ok so im a Little upset because i have to leave my home of valle hermoso... I dont really understand it. I thought I was going to be able to finish off here but the lord has other plans and that is what brings me happiness. Knowing that the lord has something even greater prepared for me there in Reynosa! He sure has been merciful to allow me be here this month! So I will be Heading back to Reynosa la Maldosa tomorrow. I am going to be in a three some with Elder Barrera and Elder Meyer. I am going to be in the Ward Reberas, which is right next to the offices! Ill be even closer to the offices than I was last time!
This week was full of miracles!! Ill start by telling what happened with the sister Rocio who we have been teaching.
So on Tuesday we went to verify if she was excited for her baptism this Saturday. Like I've said, she has been going through a hard time because her husband isn't there in the house. So we taught her about fasting and how the lord can bring her peace happiness and hope through fasting. she thought it was strange how we can find happiness by not eating or drinking for a full day. Anyways she decided that she would put it to the test! After we asked how she felt about this Saturday and she was completely against it... she wanted to do it in August but she has been ready so we insisted that she did it this week end. But she turned it down. So we left a Little frustrated.. again.. we decided that we would fast with her but we fasted that she would feel good about getting baptized this weekend. Anyways, when we went back on Friday, She had a different answer for us!! It was a miracle! We saw the hand of the lord. She was baptized on Saturday!!
So my whole misión I have found that the hardest people are the Jehovah witnesses. They don't accept anything. cards, pamphlets, blessing, or messages. NOTHING. It has always been my goal to baptize at least one before I leave. Anyways, we've been teaching the girlfriend of Luis, Berenice brother, and she is a JW. The difference is she is super humble and accepts us to teach her. Long story short, she is 15, she knows a ton, she goes out to preach every saturday, and was planning on getting baptized in that church in 6 months. But we have been teaching her for about two weeks now and she has received her answer that the BOM is true, and Joseph Smith is a prophet. Also we convinced her that Jesús Christ is Jehovah of the old testament! I Have never seen that. It was a great joy to see her receive an answer. I'm so sad because I wanted to be here to see her get baptized... But this was another miracle
other miracle and tender mercy, Luis called us and said, "elders I'm working right now at the store and I have a work companion that says she wants to be Mormon." You can imagine me on the phone and suddenly my jaw dropping. haha I was like "what??, we'll be there in ten!" so we went down to meet her and sure enough, she wants to be baptized! but like I said, I wont be here....:/
Other miracle. the Bishop gave us a reference of a girl that a while back had an addiction to drugs. she went to EFY in Monterrey with all the youth this passed week. So we went by to meet her. Her name is america and she has 15 años! we asked if she wanted to be baptized and she accepted. so we did kinda a pre interview to see if she would be ready and to verify if she still had that addiction. She turned out to be ready!! I don't know what they did there in EFY but the spirit was really strong because she had a great desire to be baptized. So we asked her to go in the house and get her mom so we could ask her permisión. she went in and came out like 5 min later crying because her mom didn't want to give her permisión and she didn't want to come out and talk to us.. we told her that if she really had the desire, the lord would provide a way. we went back back a few days later and we caught her mom outside and were able to talk with her and though she didn't show much excitement about giving her daughter permisión, she signed the registro! YAY!! but on Saturday when we passed by to get her to go to the baptism, she wasn't there.. she was in matamoros with her grandma... so it fell.. her mom told us she was gonna return next week. but yesterday before church, she all of sudden showed up!!! It was cool because the president was at church yesterday and we invited him to the baptism after church! he even gave a talk!! It was the best baptismal service I've had in the misión!
The lord was really merciful on us this month! we finished off with 15 baptisms in the zone!! that has never been done in this zone in valle hermoso!!! We set a new record of baptisms in one month!!! Like I said, we really have seen his hand in this work!
