This week was even crazier than the last finishing off the month! We didn't quite make it to 22 baptisms but we did get 13 which is super awesome! Me and Elder smith baptized two kids on Friday, and were still working with their mother and step father for this month! There is a companionship in our district that have been preparing this girl to get baptized and as a matter of fact she is ready but.. she has a dad that is super catholic and because she is two years under the age of responsibility, we need his signature. So first we just sent her to talk with her dad and explain that she had been talking to the Mormons and preparing to get baptized and that she felt ready to be baptized! and the dad told her, "are you crazy?" and laughed as his response. So this past week I went to visit the father to try and convince him but before I was doing a lot of pray and fast and study in the scriptures to prepare myself for this guy. finally came time to go and visit him and my heart was pounded like crazy but I knew I was prepared to go before his guy and I was filling confident that we were gonna convince him. I went with Elder Hanson, my old companion, who has been visiting her and... we got shut down by him. but we did not leave until he heard our testimony's of the Restoration of the gospel and that is it was wrong not letting her be baptized and invited him to ask the lord for himself if Joseph Smith was a prophet. walking away from this lesson I was feeling really down and a little angry at god because I have been preparing my whole mission for moments like that and i did so much fast and prayer and study to convince him only to get shot down. I was thinking, "dang we should've sent Elder Moreno because he easily could of got it done" later at night we finished that exchange and I met up with Elder Moreno in the church. we sat there and talked, waiting for our companions to get back, and I explained to him that he should of gone to do it because he could of done it! Elder Moreno is like the definition of a missionary that teaches "with power and authority" and as a matter of fact he taught me something awesome there. He said, "I'm sure that you were sent Elder Berry because god is preparing you to help more people in the future" and then we got on our knees and he said he most powerful prayer, begging god that he would perform a miracle for that girl to get baptized! but just a great learning experience that day!
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone this passed week! I'm thankful for my FAMILY, the mission, and hot water (which I am without again this winter)
