April 6, 2015 "Stay By the Tree"

Happy Lunes!! This week was awesome here in Rio Bravo! We found a couple more people that seem to be golden and yes, we got to watch general conference! but holy cow it seems like yesterday we were all sitting around the TV at the cabin watching the last one! time has flown! Anyways All the missionaries that wanted to watch in English went into a different room and so that's where I went haha but Oh my heck it was so good! I have never been so excited for general conference in my life than for this one! It was good to see Pres. Monson still going strong, although he did put us all in a panic when he didn't get up and announce on Saturday morning! But I got a lot good from this conference and cant wait until the ensign comes out! something that I didn't like was when they were sustaining the first presidency, someone yelled out "opposed!!!" and that just broke my heart... how could somebody not sustain those guys? there is no doubt in my mind or heart that they are called of god!! but at least I know that to be true for myself! but it's still sad when others don't see the same.

This week we found this guy named Oscur! He told us that he is a "Free mason" ? not sure exactly what that even means but during the lesson, he was sharing with us that he believed that none of the churches, from which he was familiar, had the authority that Jesus gave to his apostles and so he told us that none of those churches were true! haha what? during this lesson I'm thinking "is this real life?" have we found the golden investigator that all missionaries dream of? And so when we shared our message that god has shown his love for his children by calling a prophet para restaurar his gospel again on the earth to its fullness, he wanted to learn how he could know this for sure and so we said, hey you can read this book to know! so anyways that was cool! the feeling that me and companion had after this lesson makes all the walking around it the blazing sun worth it!! the only problem was.. he didn't come to conference... and something else that is sad is that none of our investigators came:(

With the pictures that kimmee sent me from new york with her and the boys, I have been showing them to my companions and then I would grab the ensign and say " and this guy Larry Gibson, is their grandpa, and I'm their cousin so basically he's my grandpa too" and so after President Gibson got done with his talk in the Saturday night priesthood session, my companion, Elder Evcheverry, ran over to the room that I was in, opened up the door and yelled "Berry, your grandpas talk has been my favorite one!!" haha, he did do an awesome job!

I can't name any talk that was my absolute favorite because they were all just amazing! I loved Elder Holland's talk like always, when he was sharing the story of the two brothers, I pictured myself in that situation. I know that all my brothers would've been there to grab my hands before I fell! and I would've done the same for all of them! but what he related the story to is that the Savior will always be there to catch us! I can't say how much I love elder Holland! his talks always inspire me!! but there was another talk that really got to me and it was the one that was like "Stay by the tree!!" Elder Pearson gave us 6 principles to help us endure to the end:
1 Don't forget to pray
2Come unto Christ and be perfected in him
3 Press forward in faith
4 The book of Mormon is key to spiritual survival
5 Don't be distracted and decieved
6 Stay by the tree!!
They are all great priciples for us to help us endure to the end! and all I know is that I'm gonna read from the Book of Mormon everyday for the rest of my life! I know that it is key to our spiritual survival!! the book is just simply powerful! and I hope everybody back home is reading from it everyday!! and don't forget to pray!

There is just so much to share from this conference but ill just leave it at that! I hope everyone had fun this conference weekend! Hawaii and Disneyland arent as cool as Rio Bravo (just so you know) I love you guys! stay safe and have a good week!
