I am gonna give up on the time because I just cant keep
up with it. 1 week has already passed before my eyes here in Valle
Hermoso! My companion is Elder Rincon From Chihuahua! He is awesome and a
great missionary! He has actually been to that same beach that we went
to when we all came down to Mexico. I remember asking a bunch of people
if they knew where Bahia de kino was in the beginning of my mission and
nobody knew what I was talking about but now that I have learned that
you don't prounce the "h" in Spanish, people actually know what I'm saying
and there was actually a family that had just moved from there in my
last ward and now my companion and his mom have been there to visit! So
pretty cool. Anyways this area is gonna kill me! the members are so
awesome and love the missionaries, that we have ate alot of really great
but terrible-for-you-body type foods. flour tortillas, hamburgers, pizza
etc. pretty sure I've already gained 10 lbs here in the first week! but i
love it here! they were saying that some apostle or prophet came and
said that one day a temple would be built here in this city!! so that is
gonna be awesome! there isn't a whole lot people here like there were in
matamoros so right now we don't have that many people in teaching, so we
have been helping alot of less active families and this week we had a
noche de hogar with the family foster. we had a lesson on the sabbath
day and challenged them to close down there little store on Sundays.
well yesterday we passed by after church to visit them and we had seen
that they hadn't opened up their store!! so yeah being a missionary felt
awesome! helping others get back on track!
yesterday
in church, all the speakers finished early in and there was still a
little bit of time and so the bishop call me up and the other new
missionaries and wanted us to introduce our self and share a favorite
scripture and so i got up there and pulled out my Helamen 5:12
and shared that the most important thing that we do is build our lives
on the rock of our redeemer Jesus Christ. I shared that the most
important thing in my life is my family and how the family is how I've
seen the love of god in my life. and Well god wants that this felicidad
last forever and he has given us the scriptures and the prophets so that
we know on which foundation to build our families. we've seen many
family's that get destroyed and why? because they aren't built around
this, the most sure foundation, the foundation of Jesus Christ. its like
the three little pigs story but in this case Satan is the wolf. we, in
our lives, have to make time for the scriptures, for family prayer, for
family home evening, for trips to the temple! we have been so blessed
with temples within five minutes north or south! I know that if we
continue doing these things, we will never fall. because it is a
promise "whereon if familis build they cannot fall" you guys are the
most important in my life! its a blessing to be able put my missionary
tag on every morning ready to go out and represent our family and the
lord and his church! I know that this is his church. something that i
hear everyday is "ehh the church doesn't matter all that matters is that
I've accepted Jesus in my heart and for that ill be saved" we know
different, we know that the church is what he has givin us to guide us
and keep us on the path that leads to eternal life.
